About the event
Your time and skills are needed to begin the task of building a better life and future for fellow Dallasites. We are seeking volunteers to assist with reinventing the space - nearly five acres - into an asset that can speak to and serve the community in which it is located. Most urgently, we seek to clear the property of trash, debris, and overgrown vegetation. Additionally, we seek to redevelop a structure on the property into a sober living facility, one designed to help those most in need, from right within their own community, ensuring that they have an opportunity to serve others as they grow in their recovery journey. On the currently untouched west half of the property, we aim to create and maintain an urban farm and community garden -- one that will ensure our neighbors have access to fresh vegetables in their daily diet.
Immediate opportunities to serve include:
- Trash cleanup
- Brush removal
- Bulk item removal
- Tree trimming and removal
- Vehicle removal
Other projects in need of stewardship:
- Fence and gate installation
- Gravel driveway installation
- New roof for the existing structure (500 sq ft)
- Plumbing work assistance
- Electrical work assistance
Specific items of need:
- Shipping cargo containers (one-trip, 20' HC)
- Telehandler
- Earth moving equipment
Suggested dresswear and equipment:
- Weather appropriate
- Closed-toe shoes
- Work gloves
- Brush loppers (optional)
